Christmas baking

Today Emmalyn and I had a wonderful day.  We made sugar cookies and shortbread cookies.  We had the Christmas music playing the in background and the snow was falling outside.  Such a great day.

We had so much fun, can't wait to do it again.  It is one of the first times that I have baked with Emmalyn, usually I do it after she has gone to bed, to avoid the mess LOL.  But have to say she she did great.

It was also so cute she would stop and look me in the eyes and say I Love you.  It made my heart so happy.

Merry Christmas to all.

Tis the Season

Tis the season for Christmas partys and festivities.  The next few weeks we are very busy with upcoming events.  I was having a hard time getting into the spirit of it, but last night we decorated the Christmas tree.  It is a pre-lit tree with retro-style lights, so much fun.

Earlier this week I took Emmalyn for a hair cut and then we went and seen Santa at the mall.  She did so good, such a different from last year.  Last year she just cried it was horrible, but this year, she was so excited and just couldn't stop talking.

Then today we went to the children's Chrismas party put on by my office.  It was a play about Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and included a buffet lunch a visit from Santa.  It was a great day.

On the way home Emmalyn fell asleep and is now napping.  What a great day.

Its been a while and I am sorry for that.  Life has been crazy busy the last few months.

We just returned from Mexico, where my sister got married.  Had a wonderful trip  and so wish I could have stayed and enjoyed the sun and sand longer.

Did an excursion to  Ek Balam Mayan ruins near the colonial city of Valladolid in Yucatan, Mexico.  It was a wonderful day which included swimming in an underground cave, touring Valladolid, enjoying a traditional Mayan lunch and climbing the ruins.

There is a lot more and I will post more in the next few day.

Where has the time gone

I have been thinking a lot about the last three years and how much things have changed.  I guess it is because Emmalyn will be three in just a couple of months.  Three years ago, at this time I was still pregnant and wondering if I was having a boy or a girl.

Then I had a wonderful surprise 7 weeks earlier then expected (November 8, 2007), Emmalyn decided that she just couldn't wait any longer to meet her family.

Because she was so early she had to spend a couple of weeks in the hospital before we got to take her home.  The outfit I had bought to bring her home in was way to big so I ended up going to the hospital gift shop and buying a little preemie outfit, which was still too big for her.  She was also so tiny that we had to put a face cloth between her legs and a towel above her head so she would fit in her carseat.

The next few weeks went by so fast, she slept a lot and was such a good baby.

Emmalyn sleeping and Newt checking her out, they are now best friends.

Then we came her first Christmas., she was only 7 weeks old (yes my original due date was Dec 25).

After a long day it was time for a nap.

Busy Week

We have had a busy couple of weeks.  Emmalyn was sick for a few days with a horrible frog cough, it just made me so sad, but thankfully she is feeling much better now.  The weather has been raining and cold here and it might snow tonight, not looking forward to that possibility.  We had our house appraised and are going to do some renovations in the hopes that we will sell and move to a nicer neighbourhood, so watch for before and after pictures.

The other day Emmalyn and I were playing around waiting to go out for the day and she let me take a picture of the two of us, so thought I would share.

I love that she has long hair and I get  play with it all the time.  She is so good at sitting while mommy tries different styles.

Corn Maze Fun

Today we spent a wonderful day outside. The weather was perfect, not to hot and not to cold.  We went to a corn maze that is located just out of town. There are two corn mazes, a petting zoo, and lots of other fun things. We ventured into the smaller of the two corn mazes and had fun letting the kids tell us which directon to go.  Here are a few pictures from the day.

Almost Over

Well my holidays are almost over. I go back to work on Monday, I can't believe that three weeks have gone by so quickly. I can honestly say that we had a great holiday. Did a lot of travelling, but got to see lots of fun things as well. The first week we went to Calway park and spent a couple of days with my family and then we all went to see "Walking with Dinasours" it was a great show. The second week we headed out to BC (as I had posted before). We just got home from my parents place. Had a wonderful time seeing all of my family. So fun to watch Emmalyn with my niece who is five, they are now at the age where they play so well together. Yesterday we had a family dinner/birthday celebration for my brother-in-law, his birthday is on Monday and then we went for a walk down by the river such a beautiful evening. I now have to get groceries, do laundry and do some yard work before heading back to work. It will be nice to get back to a routine.  Here are some random pictures from our holidays.
