Summer Time

Well summer has finally arrived and we are trying to take full advantage of it seeing as it won't last too long.  Last weekend I too Emmalyn to the Zoo, we have season passes so we can go as often as we like.  The weather was perfect.  Emmalyn loves the dinasour part so we started off there.

Then we went to see the Giraffs, Hipos, Gorillas.

After that we went to the Conservatory and looked at the flowers and butterflies.  There are so many beautiful colors right now.

It was a wonderful afternoon, and I can't wait to go back again.

This weekend the Calgary Stampede started and I will post about our adventure there another time.

Beautiful Morning

This morning Emmalyn and I were up bright and early.  The sun is shining and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day.  We came outside to enjoy the great morning and to setup the desk with our patio furniture.  I just restained our deck so everything was pulled off.  We have a very long deck, it runs the full length of the house, here is a picture of it all set up.

It is great for entertaining and eating outside.

I am also creating a spot to enjoy a simply morning coffee.  I am going to get a little table to put between these two chairs.

The next thing I need to do is to get a few flowers to brighten things up and then it will be the perfect little spot.   I think we will head over to the garden shop later this morning.  For now I am just enjoying soaking up the sun and relaxing.

Back to School

I work in a law firm right now as a Paralegal in the Regulatory Department.  We deal with Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy issues mainly.  I really love what I do, but a couple of years ago I decided to start taking some night course, for self improvement and just to keep my mind busy.

I have been taking one course a semester towards a Petroleum Land Administration Certificate. It will enhance what I do right now, by giving me background knowledge to things that I work with on a regular basis, but it also will give me other opportunities, if I ever want a change.

This semester I have been taking the Surface Land Practices course and yesterday and wrote my final exam and I got drum roll please ...... 90%.

I was so excited when I found out, as I was not feeling very prepared for the exam.

Now I will take the summer off and hopefully do another course this fall.  I have two courses left so by next summer I should have my certificate complete.

Have a great long weekend.

It has been too long

It seems like it has been forever since I last posted, well I guess it has since it has been six months since I last posted anything.  Life has been super crazy around there.  Where to start, we renovated our house, new bathrooms, tile floors and painting all in preparation for putting out house on the market.  We did that a couple of months ago and it is still on the market, nothing happening with it so far, hopefully soon.

I love to spend time with my little girl, who by the way is not so little anymore, she is wearing size 4 and 5 outfits, and will be going to pre-school in the fall.  Here are a few pictures from the spring when I took her to Sears.

I decided to attempt my first half marathon.  I enjoy running, the feeling of accomplishment is so wonderful.  I started training in February and run was on May 29.  Hereis a picture of me after I had completed the half marathon, in much need of a shower LOL.

We have also been struggled through a rough period, when a very close family friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  He was Emmalyn's Papa and such a wonderful man.  He passed away on May 27, two days before I was to do the half marathon.  I decided to dedicate the run to him and wore a sign on my back.

Dealing with his death and trying to explain it to a three year old has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.  I did not know what to tell Emmalyn, as I struggle with the idea of heaven.  I decided that I needed something that was tangible that she could relate to.  Papa always loved butterflies, and she sees them all of the time, so what I told her was that Papa has gone to stay with the butterflies and whenever she sees a butterfly, Papa will be visiting her.  I also gave her a butterfly necklace that was mine when I was a litt girl and told her that when she wears it that it will remind her of Papa and all of the fun they had together.
